The Chicago Cubs and Doug Sohn, founder of the famous Hot Doug's, announced a new menu at the concession stand in the Budweiser Bleachers Friday.
The new offerings include several of the most popular sausages from the now-closed Hot Doug's restaurant. Keeping with the theme of Wrigley Field, the sausages were named to pay tribute to some of Sohn's favorite Cubs players:
- The "Carmen Fanzone" is a spicy Vienna Polish sausage served with a spicy brown mustard and caramelized onions.
- The "Dave Kingman" is a bacon cheeseburger sausage with cola barbecue sauce and sharp cheddar cheese.
- The "Rick Reuschel" is an atomic pork sausage with chipotle mustard and pepper jack cheese.
Sohn closed his restaurant in October, but his hot dogs and sausages have made a comeback at other venues since, including the recent "Dog Dayz of Summer" beer and music festival. The new partnership with the Chicago Cubs brings the sausages to a more permanent menu.
"The outpouring of love and support from Chicago for Hot Doug's was incredible, and it became clear our fans were still craving the sausages that made our restaurant famous," Sohn said.
Cubs fans can take advantage of a rotating Hot Doug's menu as well as a new Vienna Beef menu throughout the season.
