Navy Pier is throwing a big birthday celebration Saturday for William Shakespeare.
In honor of the poet and playwright's 400th birthday, Navy Pier is partnering with the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre for a “Celebration of Shakespeare” with a fireworks display synced with a Shakespeare-inspired score.
The celebration, which begins at 10:15 p.m., will be the first fireworks display of the season, with the continuation of AON + Navy Pier summer fireworks on Memorial Day.
With April 23 marking the poet’s birth and death, this celebration is the beginning of an entire year of events for the Shakespeare 400 Chicago celebration. The city will also have various events throughout the day to honor the playwright.
