Jessica Simpson is returning to reality TV - but this time, she's focusing on her fashion sense and not her dirty laundry.
The singer and actress first let cameras into her freshly-baked marriage with fellow singer Nick Lachey on MTV's "Newlyweds," only to have that relationship fall apart and end in divorce.
This time around, Simpson is taking a much different tact. It has just been announced that she will be hosting the new NBC reality show "Fashion Star," a competitive program that pits 14 aspiring fashion designers against each other with complete funding for a fashion line as the prize.
Simpson will act as a mentor for the contestants. Supermodel Elle McPherson will host.
The singer, who is currently planning a return trip down the aisle with beau Eric Johnson, runs her own fashion line - The Jessica Simpson Collection - and plans on launching another line alongside sister, Ashlee. She also acted as the guest judge on last season's season finale of "Project Runway."
"Fashion Star" producer Ben Silverman sees Simpson as an ideal fit.
"Jessica Simpson has built an incredible fashion business and is a perfect mentor to our aspiring designers,"he says.
