An earthquake struck North Central Indiana early Thursday morning.
The earthquake hit at 6:55 CST with a magnitude of 4.2. It centered 15 miles ESE of Kokomo, Indiana, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Residents in parts of Chicago and as far as Buffalo Grove, IL and Naperville, IL tell NBC 5 Chicago they felt their beds shaking and saw their ceiling fans moving.
No reports of injuries or damage at this time.
NBC News posted a photo to Twitter showing cracks in the snow as an affect of the minor quake.
Earthquakes that range from 3.5 - 4.2 on the Richter Scale occure about 30,000 times per year. The last quake felt in Kokomo was about a year ago and lasted about 10 seconds, Kokomo police Major Tony Arnett said to the Chicago Sun Times.
