Cynthia Stewart must have had a lot of pen pals.
The 57-year-old Chicago woman was sentenced to eight years in prison for stealing more than $38,000 in postage stamps, reports the Daily Herald.
If she bought 44-cent first-class stamps, that's over 86,000 stamps! Just whom was she sending all that mail to?
Stewart admitted to using forged checks from closed bank accounts to buy $200 to $400 worth of stamps at a time.
To avoid suspicion, she made purchases from post offices in several counties—including Cook, Kane, DuPage, and Lake—over a 5-month period, according to the Daily Herald.
Stewart will be eligible for parole after 4 years and will have to pay back what she stole upon her release.
With over 4,300 books of stamps, do you think she went with the Liberty Bell design or a picture of the American flag?
