Funeral services were held Monday for a toddler found unresponsive Friday at a day care on Chicago's West Side.
Maite Velia Rodriguez, known for her "infectious smile" and "bright spirit” did not wake up from her nap Friday at the day care center in the 4200 block of West Hirsch Street.
Emergency crews transported the girl to Norwegian-American Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Funeral services for the 19-month-old were held at Casey Laskowski Funeral Home, at 4540 W. Diversey, her family said.
An autopsy done Saturday could not determine the cause of the baby’s death or whether any foul play was involved, according to the medical examiner’s office. Further studies have been deemed necessary.
