A west suburban middle school has a “light case” of bed bugs and will undergo treatment next weekend.
A bed bug was discovered last week at Hadley Junior High School, 240 Hawthorne Blvd., according to a statement on Glen Ellyn School District 41’s website.
A pest control company determined the school has “a light case of bed bugs” and treated the areas where bed bugs were observed, including the library, locker rooms and several classrooms, the statement said.
Next weekend, the whole building is scheduled to undergo treatment, a process “likely to inconvenience almost everyone” at the school, District 41 Supt. Paul Gordon said.
The statement said it is impossible to know how the bugs got into the school.
Chicago was the top bed bug city for 2012, according to Orkin, a residential and commercial pest control company.
