Police have located a body believed to be that of an Oak Park woman who has been missing since Saturday.
Forest Park Police said they were responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle at 3:30 p.m. when they located the body in a secluded area behind a building in an industrial area near 15th Street and Circle Avenue.
A positive identification has yet to be made, though a responding officer verified that the vehicle as being registered to Alicia H. Yaus and the body matches the 48-year-old's description.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office is aware of the discovery and Oak Park detectives have informed the Yaus family.
Yaus, of the 500 block of Forest Avenue, was last seen at about 3 p.m. near Chicago and Harlem avenues on Nov. 28, according to the village’s website. She was reported missing by her family early Sunday morning.
Investigators said Yaus may have been in the vicinity of Harlem Avenue and 16th Street in Berwyn about two hours after the time she was last seen in Oak Park.
Yaus was last seen driving a dark blue Volvo XC70 wagon with Illinois license plate A23 4609. Police issued an emergency missing person alert to law enforcement agencies across the Chicago area, including Dupage, Will, Lake and Cook counties.
Yaus, a divorced mother of three, was described as 5-feet, 7-inches tall, 130 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.
Investigators said Yaus has a tattoo of a Japanese animation character on the back of her neck. She may also be wearing prescription glasses.
Yaus was last seen wearing a black coat, black shirt, blue jeans and Ugg boots, according to the village’s website.
