The CTA's most festive train is back in service for the 25th year and it's bringing along a new partner -- the "Elves' Workshop Train."
The Holiday Train is a six-car train outfitted with Christmas lights and covered in snowflake and Santa Claus paintings that will run on all eight rail lines throughout the holiday season.
Joining the holiday train on tracks throughout Chicago will be the new Elves' Workshop Train, which will also be covered in colorful lights, garland, bows and festive winter scenes.
The Elves' Workshop Train will follow the holiday train on Saturdays to give riders another festive option if the holiday train is full.
“The CTA Holiday Train and Bus are iconic Chicago traditions that are enjoyed by thousands every year,” CTA President Dorval R. Carter, Jr. said in a statement. “We’re pleased to expand on that strong Chicago tradition by offering the new Elves’ Workshop Train, which will allow even more customers to experience this unique holiday happening.”
The holiday bus will also be making its way around the city for the third year.
The 60-foot bus was transformed into a winter wonderland by employees who wanted to say "thank you" to customers and bring added cheer this season, the CTA said.
