A cab driver was killed Thursday evening in an apparent armed robbery, according to a Chicago cab company.
The male victim was driving a Chicago Carriage Cab in the North Lawndale neighborhood when he was fatally shot in the chest due to a robbery gone awry, according to reports.
The driver, whose identity was not revealed, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect may have fled west from the cab, but there was no comprehensive description other than the person may have been wearing a black skull cap and dark clothing, the Chicago Tribune reported.
As of 10 p.m. Thursday there was no one in custody for the crime.
Further investigation is ongoing.
