The Chicago Marathon is challenging enough for many who run the race. However, two men plan on running it and continuing on in a 22-day fundraising mission.
“Ultrarunners” Alex Ramsey and Patrick Sweeney plan on completing an 846-mile run from Chicago to New York. They will start at Sunday’s race and continue running after reaching the finish line in Grant Park.
After completing the Chicago Marathon, they will run for about 23 miles more and end up at Beverly Shores, Indiana.
In all, their 22-day run will span four states and culminate in the Big Apple where they will compete in the New York City Marathon on Nov. 1.
The two are making the trek to raise money and awareness for ‘Walk for Peace,’ an initiative that aims to build a school in Kenya’s North Rift Valley region.
