Chris Medina's heartbreaking story captured the hearts of many, but it did not help him make the Top 24 on "American Idol."
"It honestly breaks my heart to say this," said Jennifer Lopez as she gave her goodbye to the Oak Forest singer during last night's episode.
Lopez also told Medina that it's a singing competition and his performance wasn't strong enough.
After Medina left the room, Lopez started crying and telling the other judges, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson, that she was afraid she broke his heart.
But Medina walked away looking strong saying he's going to keep writing music, take care of his fiancee and make a miracle happen.
Medina's story made headlines all over the world after trying out for "Idol" in Milwaukee. The 26-year-old shared how he stayed with his fiancee, Juliana Ramos, after she suffered traumatic brain injuries from a car accident and became nearly paralized.
But last night's show wasn't all bad news for local hopefuls.
Haley Reinhart, 18, from Wheeling made the final 24, making everyone wonder if she will become a star like Mount Prospect's own Lee DeWyze.
