Two women from Crystal Lake have gone to police after their personal photos have surfaced on an explicit website, they say.
The Crystal Lake High School graduates told NBC 5 Friday their photos have been posted on Anon-IB, an anonymous website that features women who have no idea their pictures are being shared. Users submit the images and ask for women by name—calling them “wins.”
In a four-months-long investigation, NBC 5 Investigates was the first to bring attention to the widespread use of the website in more than 75 Chicago-area high schools. Anonymous users are able to post—and trade—thousands of nude images of former high school classmates—some of them underage--and none with permission.
One of the women says she told police she recognized dozens of other women from photos on the website.
She has posted on the website herself asking for the photos to be deleted but has not received a response.
She said she feels “completely helpless.”
The second woman says there are posts from users asking for nude photos of her by name after someone posted her Facebook profile picture.

“My stomach dropped,” she told NBC 5. “I feel for these other girls.”
Crystal Lake police say they are investigating and encourage any other women who have had their photos shared to speak up.
