Thirty-nine passengers had to be moved from one train to another on Chicago's Northwest Side Tuesday night after a small electrical fire on an Amtrak locomotive, officials said.
The fire was extinguished after the train stopped about 9:30 p.m. near Kilbourn and Milwaukee avenues in the city’s Old Irving Park neighborhood, Chicago fire officials said. The train had left Milwaukee for Chicago about 8 p.m., Amtrak said.
Officials said passengers were only delayed a short while before being transfered to a Metra train and taken to their destination.
No injuries were reported.
