7 Including Firefighter Injured in Schaumburg Apartment Complex Fire

The fire broke out before 1:28 a.m. in the 100 block of Salado Court

Seven people were injured and several residents were displaced as a result of a fire at a Schaumburg apartment complex on Saturday morning, police said.

First responders were called to the fire at approximately 1:28 a.m. in the 100 block of Salado Court. Two people were trapped on the third floor when police officers arrived on the scene. The two victims jumped from a window, and were taken to St. Alexius Medical Center with serious injuries.

Another resident went to the hospital for smoke inhalation while a firefighter was hospitalized for heat exhaustion. Three additional residents were treated by paramedics on scene, and refused transported to the hospital.

The American Red Cross responded to the scene to help the approximately 12 victims who were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation as of Saturday evening.
