If there was any doubt as to whether or not the spat between Chicago Bears right guard Kyle Long and tight end Martellus Bennett was much ado about nothing, it was put to rest to a degree on Monday afternoon. [[288458021, C]]
That’s because Long, in his role as NFL insider, broke the news that Bennett had been selected to the Pro Bowl to replace New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who will not play in the game because the Patriots will be competing in the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks: [[289053681, C]]
Bennett had a career year for the Bears in 2014, catching 90 passes for 916 yards and six touchdowns. He was a focal point of the offense with Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery both suffering injuries, and even though some of the biggest stories about him were about incidents with teammates, his performance on the field speaks for itself. Despite his status as a news breaker, Long (who also is headed to Arizona for his second career Pro Bowl) still hasn’t earned a follow back from Bennett as of yet.
