A woman is in the hospital after her son on Thursday allegedly stabbed her repeatedly with a butcher knife when she offered to make him a sandwich.
Alexander Georg was being held on $1.5 million bond Friday morning for the alleged attack. According to prosecutors, George attacked his mother so severely that the knife blade snapped off the handle, according to The Chicago Tribune.
When police arrived on the scene, Georg's mother was standing across the street, covered in blood. Georg was standing in the driveway of the residence. He was arrested without resisting. Officers found the blade from the butcher knife lying in what appeared to be blood.
Georg, 27, and the victim were both transported to Edward Hospital in Naperville. Once Georg was cleared medically, he was transported to DuPage County Jail. His mother was still being treated for stab wounds and other injuries.
At Georg's bond hearing, Assistant State's Attorney Deb Brewer said the man's mother had recently picked him up from Adventist GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights.
After he arrived home, his mother offered to make him a sandwich, and he allegedly grabbed the knife, chased her out to the driveway and pinned her down and stabbed her repeatedly.
Brewer described the woman's screams as "bone-chilling," which neighbors heard and alerted the police.
