A man, 21, is in critical condition after being shot in the head during a drive-by shooting in Uptown Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of West Wilson Avenue. Two vehicles were driving west on Wilson exchanging gunfire when the man was shot, police said.
The drive-by shooting happened near the Truman College campus on West Wilson Avenue, but it did not occur on the college's property, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.
Police do not believe the victim of the shooting was the intended target, Estrada said.
The injured man was delivering fire extinguishers to a nearby single-occupancy hotel at the time of the shooting, officials said.
"This guy ran into my store and said, 'Someone is trying to shoot me,'" said Shadi Hinnawi, owner of a nearby shop. "We looked outside and saw this guy and we called an ambulance."
The man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition.

Witness Oliver Wade, who tried to save the victim's life at the scene, said he heard five to six gunshots and saw the man on the ground.
"I just came over to check if he still had a pulse," he said. "His eyes were rolling back and it looked like he was trying to... and I was just like, he stopped breathing, just don't die on me here."
Around the same time, two people were injured in a shooting on Chicago's Near West Side.
A Chicago Police Department spokesperson told NBC Chicago that shots rang out at about 10 a.m. near South Western Avenue and West Jackson Boulevard. The two people hit were on the sidewalk.
