A 15-year-old boy who was part of a group beating a male on the street outside Water Tower Place Saturday night was charged with felony mob action.
The attack happened at 8:26 p.m. in the 800 block of North Michigan Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli. The teen’s name was not being released because he is a juvenile.
A Chicago police officer in the area at the time saw what he thought was a group of people "acting rambunctiously, jumping up and down" and when he got closer, he saw the group was beating up a male of an unidentified age, said Mirabelli.
All others in the group fled the scene but the boy was arrested. The victim declined to prosecute and was not taken to a hospital, said Mirabelli.
A motive was not known.
Belmont Area detectives are investigating.
