Being on the cover of The Rolling Stone is still a very big deal, but a picture on the cover of The New York Times Sunday Magazine is certainly nothing to sneeze at, either.
And that's where you'll be seeing "Obama's BFF," Valerie Jarrett, next weekend and, dang, she looks good.
Writing on her blog this morning, Sun-Times reporter Lynn Sweet credits Politico for the "West Wing Must-Read" preview in which Mike Allen refers to the White House Senior Adviser as "Obama's long time aide-de-camp ... with a chameleonlike ability to move fluidly between high-level policy meetings and outreach efforts involving buidness groups and African-American leaders."
That said, Allen gets to the heart of the NYT's article; "What does she do, exactly?" by quoting yet another writer, Hilary Rosen, Editor-at-Large for The Huffington Post and CNN Political Contributor.
Rosen says:
"Valerie is the keeper of the flame. She doesn't just track what campaign promises the President needs to keep -- she remembers why he made them. And she knows which ones matter to Michelle. It is the uber-powerful combination."
Even with that answer, however, it's likely the New York Times will teach us all a thing or two come Sunday.
