One of the best small cities in the country can be found in northwest suburban Chicago.
Crystal Lake came in 10th place on WalletHub’s Best & Worst Small Cities in America list. The northwest suburb was the highest ranked city in Illinois.
WalletHub compared 1,268 cities across several categories, including housing costs to school-system quality. Cities with a population size between 25,000 and 100,000 residents were analyzed.
The northwest suburb is home to 40,493 people, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Crystal Lake received high marks for education and health, ranking 12th overall in the category on WalletHub’s survey.
And with a plethora of parks, running trails, lakefront beaches and activities it's understandable why it's such a popular place to settle down.
The title of the best small city went to Princeton, New Jersey, according to the report.
