A firefighter was injured in a blaze Friday morning in the Lawndale neighborhood on Chicago's Southwest Side.
The fire in the 1800 block of South Avers was brought under control by about 5:45 a.m., according to the Chicago Fire Department.
A firefighter suffered burns in the blaze and was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, officials said.
Five people were displaced by the flames, officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
At the same time, a second fire was reported on the city's Southwest Side at a building near 64th and Claremont. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke on the back porch of the 1.5-story home. The fire extended to the rest of the building and exposed surrounding homes.
Fire crews remained at the scene early Friday morning and streets were closed in the area. No injureies were immediately reported.
