A spokesman for Steve Bartman says the Cubs’ most infamous fan is “overjoyed” with the team’s World Series victory, but has no intention of crashing the parade, according to a USA Today report.
“We don’t intend to crash the parade,’’ Frank Murtha told USA Today. “The one thing that Steve and I did talk about was if the Cubs were to win, he did not want to be a distraction to the accomplishments of the players and the organization.’’
Bartman has been named for years as having a hand in extending the Cubs’ 108-year curse after he attempted to catch a foul ball in the 2003 National League Championship Series.
Murtha also told the newspaper that Bartman still lives and works in the Chicago area but has not granted any interview since the 2003 foul ball incident occurred.
