A semi-truck caught on fire on the Tri-State Tollway in the western suburbs Wednesday night, closing down four of the five lanes, police said.
About 8:52 p.m., the semi caught fire in the southbound lanes of I-294 at Ogden in Hinsdale, according to a statement from Illinois State Police. Within an hour, the vehicle was “fully engulfed in flames.”
Four of the tollway’s five lanes remained closed as of 9:30 p.m., police said.
The ramp from southbound I-294 onto westbound Ogden is also closed as emergency crews work to extinguish the fire, police said.
Police did not say if anyone was injured.
