Two people were killed and one person was injured after a drive-by shooting in Chicago’s Grand Crossing neighborhood early Tuesday afternoon.
Around 3:30 p.m., the victims were standing on a corner near 76th Street and Dorchester Avenue when a vehicle drove up and fired shots, police said.
A 17-year-old woman was shot in the left side of her chest and a 16-year-old male was shot in the head, police said. Both were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, though police later said both victims had died.
Another man was shot in the hand and taken to Saint Bernard Hospital in stable condition.
The community was still reeling from the shooting Tuesday evening.
“They're just doing random shootings,” said activist Willie “J.R.” Fleming, who has an office steps away from the scene. “Usually we're protesting police, right? Now we’re really exploring options around protesting some of these people in the community. Our children should have a right to live.”
"It hurts to know that I'm literally not even block away," said neighbor Jennifer Lee. "An as a young black woman we shouldn’t have these problems."
Neighbor Roger Galloway, whose son was killed in a shooting outside his mother’s home, said when he was growing up “when somebody passed, it was your old auntie or grandma, but now we’re burying our kids.”

Police say they are looking for a dark vehicle and are still investigating the crime. They currently have no suspects in custody.
