Pilot Injured, Teen Unhurt After Small Plane Crash in NW Suburbs

The pilot was airlifted to a local hospital

A 42-year-old Fox Lake man suffered serious injuries after his small plane crashed in the far northwest suburbs Saturday morning.

The unidentified man was piloting an aircraft at approximately 10:36 a.m. when it crashed shortly after take-off near Galt Airport in unincorporated Greenwood.

The pilot was taken by Flight for Life to a Libertyville hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to authorities. A 15-year-old was also in the plane, but did not require medical treatment after the crash.

The cause of the crash is unknown, and the Federal Aviation Administration is still investigating the crash.
