The activist website that helped spur the Occupy Wall Street movement is urging its readers to withdraw all of their money from banks in advance of the G8/NATO summits in Chicago in May.
The Adbusters site, which proudly posts photos of the confrontations between demonstrators and Chicago Police at the 1968 Democratic National Convention, urges its readers to take part in a mass withdrawal on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
"There is something we can all do to set the stage for Occupy Chicago," the authors write, "and that is the personal action to move our money away from the big banks."
The authors ask their followers to withdraw money from personal bank accounts and use credit unions instead.
"It will be the most pro-active hour of your week."
Adbusters has called on 50,000 demonstrators to descend on Chicago for a month, centering on the twin economic inferences which will be staged at Chicago's McCormick Place Convention Center in mid-May.
