Poor Hillary.
Two weeks ago she was dissed during a Washington Post attempt at comedy when staffers said on video that the Secretary of State should drink “Mad Bitch” beer.
But if you thought getting ripped on by the media might get her hot under the collar, imagine what would happen if she mistakenly thought a college student insulted her. In a public forum. In Congo, of all places.
Let the "Hill-arity" begin.
Clinton was hosting a town hall forum on Monday when a Congolese university student asked about President Obama's thinking on an international financial matter. Unfortunately, the translator swapped in Bill Clinton's name for the current president's, and that caused the secretary of state of the most powerful nation in the world to snap.
The Associated Press gives the play-by-play:
"You want me to tell you what my husband thinks?" she replied incredulously when the male student asked her what "Mr. Clinton" thought of World Bank concerns about a multi-billion-dollar Chinese loan offer to the Congo.
"My husband is not secretary of state, I am," an obviously annoyed Clinton said sharply. "If you want my opinion, I will tell you my opinion. I am not going to be channeling my husband."
U.S. & World
For the record, the moderator quickly took control of the situation and moved on, not leaving time for anyone to ponder the actual question at hand.
Sigh.
This trip to Africa was supposed to thrust Clinton back into the spotlight on an international stage, but it's been her husband who has made all the headlines. She was greeted on the start of her Africa trip with word that Bill had flown into enemy territory and saved the lives of journalists.
No wonder she was on edge.
