Celebrate Fashion's Night Out in Chicago

Stores pull out all the stops for annual event

Fashion’s Night Out was started four years ago as a way to celebrate fashion and boosts consumer confidence in the retail economy. The New York-based event has grown worldwide, with up to 5,000 events in the U.S. alone. The official hours are 6-9 p.m. on Sept. 6, and here's just a sampling of what you can do in Chicago.

Haberdash (607 N. State St) is teaming up with Levi's Made & Crafted and Red Wing Heritage for an FNO celebration between 6-9 p.m. Sample hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, get a complimentary gift with purchase and free hems on any Levi's purchase. RSVP to haberdash@zapwater.com.

Saks Fifth Avenue's Michigan Avenue location will host an FNO bash between 6-9 p.m. on the first three floors. Enjoy cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and music and raffle prizes as you shop. Actress Ali Larter hosts the 900 Shop's Fame, Fashion and Flavor event from 6-9 p.m.

Nieman Marcus is pulling out all the stops for its FNO events. Reality star and entrepreneur Corri McFadden hosts the Michigan Avenue soiree, Chicago Fire player Dan Gargan will showcase his t-shirt line in Northbrook, and hit Oakbrook for a special trend fashion show at 7 p.m.

CS magazine and The Shops at North Bridge throw down from 6-8 p.m. with a competition between local stylists and fashion bloggers who will create looks using merchandise from eight stores at mall. Factor Women will model the looks and a celebrity panel and the crowd will vote for their favorites. The official after-party goes down at ROOF on theWit from 8-11 p.m. with a fashion show by designer Edith Hart. RSVP here.

The Chicago Fashion Foundation hosts a Fashion's Night Out after-party at The Underground with special guest host Marco Foster from 10 p.m.-2 a.m. A runway show featuring looks from Nora Del Busto, Lucy & K.Amato and other local designers helps kick off the Fall Style Series. The MADE IN CHICAGO by AIBI Store (44 East Grand Ave) hosts an FNO shopping event including looks from the Marty Casey Silver Elements Collection. It all goes down from 6-11 p.m. Wine and appetizers will be served.

Celebrate FNO at Water Tower Place with Majeur Won and IACC-Midwest at Water Tower Place from 6-8 p.m., a celebration of the style of London, Milan and Paris. Macy's on State Street hosts FNO events from 6-11 p.m. including an appearance from Nzimiro Optua of NBC's "Fashion Star." Aviva Drescher from The Real Housewives of New York City will also be on hand. Macy’s Water Tower offers gifts with purchases, prizes, and plenty of apps and goodies.

If you didn't load up on free bites earlier in the evening, settle in at Bar Toma. The Italian hot spot offers complimentary light bites from 9-10 p.m. and cocktail and wine specials.
