Ryan Stuker is the United Airline's real-life Ryan Bingham, the frequent-flying passenger in the 2009 film Up in the Air.
Stuker has long been known as the man with millions of miles, but he reached a unique distinction Saturday while on flight 942 from Los Angeles to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. He became United Airlines' first-ever 10-million-mile customer.
Stuker's family and company executives and employees were on hand for a celebration at the airport.
The Chicago-based automotive sales consultant accumulated his miles in 5,962 flights. It took 19 years for him to reach the first five million milestone and just another 10 to reach the second five million mark.
"So we figure that we're going to be here in five years when you hit 15 million miles, because you're cutting it in half every time," said Martin Hand, United's Vice-President of Customer Experience.
