A person was killed and two others were injured when two semi-trucks crashed Wednesday morning on Interstate 80 near Joliet.
Illinois State Police said two 18-wheel tractor trailers collided at about 3:42 a.m. on I-80 at Houbolt Road, and one of the trucks caught fire. A truck was traveling on the ramp from Houbolt to westbound I-80 when it was struck by a semi-trailer traveling on westbound I-80, police said.
Westbound I-80 was closed for about five hours from Houbolt to Larkin Avenue, and all traffic was diverted off the interstate at Larkin Avenue.
The two people who survived were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said the cause of the crash is still being investigated.
