As February came to a close Saturday, Chicago tied for one more cold-related record.
With a high around 20 degrees on Saturday, the average temperature for the month was 14.6 degrees, which ties the record for the coldest February in Chicago recorded in 1875, according to the National Weather Service.
Saturday's morning temperatures broke another record for the coldest Feb. 28 since 1884, according to data from the National Weather Service. The low temperature recorded at O'Hare in the morning was -10 degrees. The previous record was 0 degrees.
Temperatures are expected to warm up this week into the 20s and 30s, but the winter weather will stick around.
A snow system will begin moving in Saturday night and last until Sunday evening, dropping an inch or two in the Chicago area.
On Tuesday, a second winter storm system will move in as temperatures increase, bringing freezing rain and sleet. The system is expected to last into Wednesday.
