Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced massive investments into its portfolio Thursday, with big plans ahead for the chain’s flagship parks, including Six Flags Great America in Gurnee.

Following the merger of the two companies in July, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation has 42 amusement and water parks across the United States, Canada and Mexico in its portfolio.

With Halloween just days away and temperatures getting cooler, the season is beginning to wind down at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, with the spooky Fright Fest having just a few more days of operation.

While roller coaster enthusiasts around the Chicago area can still make their way to Six Flags Great America in Gurnee for Fright Fest, the park is already preparing for new thrills that will be offered beginning next year.

While daily operations at Six Flags Great America have been shuttered for nearly two months, thrill seekers have still been able to get their fix on weekends, thanks to the park’s Halloween-themed “Fright Fest.”

While summer might be the busiest time of year for amusement parks, many still operate well into the fall. And Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois’ largest amusement park, is no exception.

Starting this month, Six Flags Great America has a new chaperone policy that will be in place for teens and kids looking to attend the park’s popular Fright Fest.

Though daily operation at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee has concluded for the season, those eager for some fall thrills are in luck, as this year’s Fright Fest officially launches at the park Saturday.
