If you're feeling the insatiable urge to stash all of your cash under your mattress and ration out your Ramen so it lasts until summer, take a deep breath. Everything is going to be OK without having to dine on bread and water for the rest of your life. River North's Zocalo Restaurant and Tequila Bar created a new list of dining deals with the recession-conscious in mind.
How does an evening of never-ending tacos sound? For $6 plus a beverage, get all-you-can-eat taquizas from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Look for choices like braised beef barbacoa, crispy duck carnitas and conchinita pibil, which is Yucantan-style pulled pork. Appetizers are also half-price in the bar area during these times, as well.
The last Tuesday of every month, choose an appetizer, entrée and dessert from the entire menu for only $20.
Daily deals include:
Salsa Mondays: $5 salsa class and $5 Zocalo margaritas
Tuesdays: $25 three course prix fixe dinner ($20 on the last Tuesday of the month, as mentioned above) and $3 Corona Lights
Wednesdays: half-price bottles of wine
Thursdays: $5 Sangria and Citrus Cazuelas
Sundays: $25 three-course prix-fixe dinner and $3 Corona Lights
