Do we smell a trend? Two BYO pie shops have opened in the past month on opposite sides of the city.
First, Uptown Pie Company brought their sweet and savory slices to Wilson Ave, and this week, a new Bridgeport bakery will also let you pair your own bottle with British-inspired pies.
The husband and wife team that runs Pleasant House Bakery is also behind Pleasant Farms, a Bridgeport garden and greenhouse that will supply the vegetables used in the shop's savory pies. Lunch and dinner options include a mushroom and kale pie, chicken balti pie with curry spices, and sides like salads, coriander chutney, and fries. The pie-chef is Art Jackson, formerly of River North's Bistro Bijan.
Currently, the bakery is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday, and they plan to add afternoon tea and Sunday brunch in the future. Your best bet for grabbing a bottle beforehand? They're conveniently located next to Maria's Packaged Goods and Community Bar. For more boozy options, consult our Feast List: BYOB Stalwarts. [The Feast]
