Takin ya back to the old school.
Urban Joe, the old-timey barbershop that caters to the guy whose medicine cabinet isn't stocked with "products," just opened a new outpost in Wicker Park (1925 W Division St), to go along with its original location in Wrigleyville, and their opening party's tonight.
Running 6-8 p.m., all men in need of a trim will get gratis first-come, first-serve haircuts, free Colt 45 forties, and complimentary grub from Fifty/50.
Any other time, the basic haircut will run you $29 -- a not-so-old-timey hefty price, but patrons get the benefit of several flat screens displaying local sports, a pool table, vintage barber chairs, and rock and roll decor.
It's not exactly your grandaddy's barbershop, but the vintage cash register and chalkboard at the front provide some reminders of an era gone by. And by the way, that chalkboard is where you scrawl your name to put yourself in queue for a cut. No appointments necessary here.
Now if they could just start offering some Brylcreem "product," then they'd really be on to something.
