Photos: Northern Lights stun the skies across Chicago, suburbs

The Northern Lights dazzled the night sky over the Chicago area late Friday, putting on quite a spectacular show.

Aurora borealis, commonly referred to as the Northern Lights, emerged in a wide swath of the country as a result of a "very rare" geomagnetic storm.

Many people took notice and captured some stunning images.
