A 12-year-old girl was killed Monday morning when the semi-truck she was riding in crashed on Route 20 in northwest suburban Pingree Grove.
Police said the truck, owned by Landstar Inway, Inc. from Jacksonville, Florida, was traveling west on Route 20 near Reinking Road around 5:15 a.m. when it left the roadway and rolled on its side.
The driver’s 12-year-old daughter, Dahabrielle A. Turner, was ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene, police and the Kane County Coroner's office said.
The driver, Dior L. Turner of South Bend, Indiana, was transported to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin where his condition was not immediately known.
Police said no other vehicles were involved in the crash. Several utility poles were damaged in the accident, according to authorities.
