A person and a firefighter suffered injuries after a fire broke out at a three-story apartment building in Westmont Wednesday evening.
Officials say the Westmont Fire Department received a call around 6:40 p.m. of a reported fire at 515 N. Cass Avenue.
Authorities say they rescued and transported one person to a local hospital after being found inside the 30-unit apartment building engulfed in smoke and flames.
A firefighter also suffered a minor injury, police said.
The Westmont Fire Department struck out the fire a little over an hour later, officials said.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known and an investigation for the incident is ongoing.
