At least five people are dead and at least 60 others were wounded in shootings across Chicago over the weekend, according to police.
In the most recent fatal shooting, a 29-year-old man was killed in a drive-by shooting that also wounded two others early Monday in the 2400 block of South Trumbell. The group was on the sidewalk around 12:45 a.m., police said, when a gunman opened fire from a black sedan. A 20-year-old man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a wound to the abdomen. He was listed in good condition, authorities said. A 27-year-old man was shot in the leg and also taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
Early Sunday, police in the 3600 block of West Belmont Avenue discovered an unresponsive man in his mid-20s lying on the ground in an alley.
The man was sitting in the driver’s side of a vehicle, and was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot in the head.
Area Five detectives are continuing to investigate the shooting.
The city’s first fatal shooting of the weekend was reported in the 11600 block of South Peoria at approximately 8:13 p.m., police said.
In the shooting, officers responding to calls of shots fired found a 48-year-old man lying on the ground in the rear of a residence with a gunshot wound to his chest.

He was taken to Christ Hospital in serious condition, and was later pronounced dead. Area Two detectives are currently investigating the shooting, and no suspects are in custody.
At approximately 11:17 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of West 110th Place, a 28-year-old man was found by police slumped behind the wheel of his car. Officers say the man was shot in the arm and chest, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The shooting is under investigation by Area Two detectives.
Just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday night in the 3500 block of West Flournoy, officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert discovered an 18-year-old man lying on the sidewalk. The man had been shot in the head and chest, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another victim, a 14-year-old boy, was driven to Mount Sinai after he was shot in the left arm, and he is now listed in fair condition.

Friday –
- At approximately 6:36 p.m. in the 3000 block of West 44th Street, a 20-year-old man was sitting on the front porch of a residence when a person in a black Chevy SUV fired shots at him, striking him in the right leg. He is in fair condition at Mount Sinai, police said.
- In the 6400 block of South Ellis at approximately 8:11 p.m., a 12-year-old boy was standing in a group when shots were fired. Police say the boy was hit in the right leg, and was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in fair condition.
- Two people were shot in the 8500 block of South Sangamon at approximately 8:27 p.m., according to police. The victims were standing on a sidewalk when shots were fired. A 29-year-old man was hit in the back, and was taken to Christ Hospital in serious condition, while a 24-year-old man was hit in the shoulder. He is also listed in serious condition at Christ Hospital.
- Just after 9 p.m. in the 7600 block of South Peoria, officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert found a 46-year-old man lying on the ground after he had been shot in the armpit area. Police say the man was taken to Christ Hospital, where he is in critical condition.
- Two individuals were standing on the street in the 4000 block of West 18th Street at approximately 9:33 p.m. when they were shot by a person in a passing vehicle. A 26-year-old man was hit in the leg and taken to Mount Sinai in fair condition, while another unidentified individual was hit in the head and taken to Mount Sinai. His condition is unknown at this time.
- In the 6300 block of South Richards Drive at approximately 10:40 p.m., two men got into an argument and one of the individuals opened fire. A gunshot struck a bystander, a 48-year-old man. He was taken to Jackson Park Hospital, while the man who allegedly fired the shot turned himself in to police.
- At approximately 11:48 p.m. in the 4400 block of South Hermitage, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the hip, according to police. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition.
Saturday –
- A 17-year-old boy was standing on a sidewalk in the 3600 block of West 70th Street just after midnight when a person got out of a white SUV and fired shots, hitting him in the leg. The boy was taken to Christ Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
- Two people were standing on a sidewalk in the 1800 block of South Kildare at approximately 3 a.m. when a person in a black sedan fired shots at them. A 24-year-old woman was hit in the right side of her chest and was taken to Mount Sinai in critical condition, and a 29-year-old man was hit in the right thigh and was taken to Mount Sinai in good condition.
- Illinois State Police say two women were shot while driving on the Eisenhower Expressway near Central Avenue at approximately 4:18 a.m. According to authorities, the women were in the front seat of a vehicle when shots were fired at them from another car. A 19-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman were hit, and were taken to area hospitals, with the younger woman suffering life-threatening injuries.
- A 37-year-old man was approached by four men in the 5000 block of West Erie at approximately 4:24 a.m. who then attempted to rob him. During a struggle, one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the man in the right index finger, and he was taken to West Suburban Hospital in good condition, police said.
- Just after 8 a.m. in the 1400 block of East 66th Place, a 24-year-old man was shot in the upper right chest and right hand, police said. The man was listed in fair condition.
- At approximately 8:19 p.m. in the 6200 block of South Seeley, a 27-year-old man was walking when a man walked up behind him and fired shots, striking him in the stomach. Police say the man was taken to the University of Chicago, where he was listed in critical condition.
- In the 8600 block of South Burley at approximately 9:09 p.m., a 30-year-old man was walking on a sidewalk when shots were fired, striking him in the abdomen, police said. The man was taken to the University of Chicago in fair condition.
- A 16-year-old boy was standing in the 500 block of East 47th Street at approximately 10 p.m. when a dark-colored vehicle pulled up and multiple people got out, firing shots at him. He was hit in the left leg, and he’s in stable condition at Comer Children’s Hospital.
- At approximately 11:42 p.m. in the 4900 block of South Seeley, a 25-year-old man was walking when a person in a red Nissan SUV fired shots, hitting him in the back, arm and leg. He was taken to Mount Sinai in fair condition, police said.
Sunday –
- Two men were leaving a party in the 3400 block of North Oketo at approximately 12:43 a.m. when two men began shooting at them. Both victims were taken to Loyola Hospital in good condition, police said.
- In the 4800 block of South Elizabeth at approximately 12:45 a.m., a 22-year-old man became involved in a physical altercation with another man when he was shot in the hand. Police say the man was brought to UIC Hospital in fair condition.
- At approximately 12:50 a.m. in the 4400 block of South Princeton, a 20-year-old man was shot by a person in a passing white SUV, police said. The man was taken to Stroger, where he was listed in fair condition.
- Two men were shot in the backyard of a residence in the 200 block of West 90th Place at approximately 1:19 a.m., police said. A 24-year-old man was shot in the back and a 23-year-old man was shot in the left arm and left abdomen, and both are in good condition.
- In the 6900 block of South Clyde at approximately 1:46 a.m., a 29-year-old woman was standing on the street when a person in a green GMC and fired shots at her, striking her in the leg. She was taken to Jackson Park Hospital, where she was listed in fair condition, police said.
- At approximately 2:25 a.m. in the 2100 block of South Canalport, a 35-year-old man was getting into a car when he was shot in the arm. He was transferred to Stroger Hospital in fair condition, police said.
- A 34-year-old man was driving in the 2600 block of North Kedzie at approximately 2:27 a.m. when he was shot in the left leg, police said. The man was taken to Illinois Masonic in fair condition.
- In the first block of South Springfield at approximately 3:30 a.m., a 21-year-old man was leaving a party when he was shot in the left knee, police said. He is in good condition at Mount Sinai.
- Just after 5 a.m. in the 2200 block of South Sawyer, two men were shot when a person walked up to them, police said. A 22-year-old man was shot in the chest, and he is in serious condition at Saint Anthony Hospital. The other, a 20-year-old man, was hit in the toe and is in good condition.
- A 33-year-old man was walking in the 4500 block of South Washtenaw at approximately 9:12 a.m. when he was shot in both legs, police said. The man was taken to Mount Sinai in fair condition.
- At least three people were shot in the 3000 block of West 44th Street at approximately 1:15 p.m. All three men were in an alley when multiple gunmen approached them and opened fire. A 19-year-old was hit in the back and is in critical condition at Mount Sinai. A 20-year-old was hit in the elbow and is in good condition, while a 22-year-old man suffered a graze wound to his buttocks and refused treatment, according to police.
- Two men were injured after exchanging gunfire in the 5400 block of West Wrightwood at approximately 2:06 p.m., police said. One of the men, a 24-year-old, was in a vehicle when another 24-year-old man fired shots at him, hitting him in the shoulder. The victim returned fire, hitting the original assailant in the torso. Both are in serious condition at Illinois Masonic, and according to police, the victim had a valid FOID card and a concealed carry permit.
- Around 3:45 p.m., two men were shot inside a home in the 1800 block of South Karlov. Police said the men were in the home when multiple people approached them with guns and opened fire. A 25-year-old man was shot in the hand and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition. A 39-year-old man was shot in the face and side and was taken to the same hospital in critical condition, authorities said. No one was in custody as of Monday morning.
- Just after 4 p.m., in the 2000 block of West Chase, a 17-year-old was shot in the stomach. Police did not provide details on what happened but said the teen was taken to St. Francis Hospital where he was listed in good condition.
- A few minutes later, a 21-year-old woman was shot in the 100 block of West Pershing, according to police. The woman was shot in the foot when someone fired shots at the vehicle she was riding in. Police said the woman was not the intended target. She was taken to University of Chicago Hospital in good condition, police said.
- Around 5 p.m., in the 3100 block of South Rhodes, a 28-year-old man was shot in the foot, police said. The man told officers he heard shot and felt pain. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in good condition, police said.
- Around 9:15 p.m., three people were shot while standing on a sidewalk in the 3300 block of West Van Buren, police said. According to the victims, the gunman fired shots from a dark-colored sedan. A 30-year-old woman suffered graze wounds to the shoulder and was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition. A 56-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the hand and refused treatment. A 61-year-old man was also shot in the arm and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
- Two people were shot just before 9:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of South Leavitt. According to police, the men were standing on a sidewalk when someone in a silver sedan opened fire. A 48-year-old man who suffered gunshot wounds to his legs was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said. A 37-year-old man suffered a graze wound to his shoulder and refused treatment.
- A 28-year-old man was shot around 10 p.m. in the 2100 block of West Jackson. The man, who police said was uncooperative with officers, was taken to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Monday –
- Three people were shot just after midnight in the 3600 block of West Polk, police said. The group was sitting on steps when four men walked up and started shooting, according to authorities. A 23-year-old man suffered multiple wounds to the body and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. Another 23-year-old man was shot in the ankle and taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition. A 25-year-old woman was shot in the foot and took herself to Mount Sinai Hospital where police said she was in fair condition.
- Just before 2 a.m., three people were shot in the 3900 block of West Ferdinand. Police said the group was in a vehicle when a grey sedan pulled up and four men got out and started shooting. A 26-year-old man was shot in the shoulder and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. A 22-year-old woman was shot in the leg and taken to the same hospital in good condition. An 18-year-old woman was also shot in the shoulder and taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said.
- Just after 3 a.m., police responding to a call of shots fired in the 7300 block of South Southshore Drive found a 15-year-old on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his right shoulder. The teen refused to answer officers' questions on how he was shot, police said. He was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in good condition.
- About 30 minutes later, a 33-year-old man was shot in his home in the 8100 block of South Vernon after he got into a verbal altercation with three other men. Police said one of the men pulled out a handgun and shot the victim, who suffered a graze wound to the head and was taken to University of Chicago Hospital in good condition. A weapon was recovered from inside the home but the suspects fled the scene, police said.
