Police have released photos of suspects they say are wanted in connection with attacks on numerous Chicago Transit Authority riders at the Chicago Avenue Red Line station.
The Chicago Police Department released the images of six teens they believe may have been involved in the New Year's Eve weekend attacks.
Over the weekend, authorities said a large group of teenagers attacked three people on the Red Line platform on the Near North Side.
Around 7:30 p.m., the victims were waiting for a train at the Chicago station, located at 800 N. State St., when the teens stepped onto the platform, according to Chicago police. One of the people in the group then asked a 26-year-old man if he was recording them, which he denied.
The teens then approached the man and two other people and started punching them, police said.
All three were treated at the scene for bruising and lacerations on their faces and bodies, according to Chicago Fire Media Affairs.
"I saw them. They were on that side of the street when I got out of the train and they were blocking the entrance," said passenger Patricia Mejia. "It was really scary it was a lot of them, a lot of them, and there were a lot of police presence there."
Trains were halted until about 9:30 p.m. as officers investigated the attack, according to the Chicago Transit Authority.
On Sunday, Area Central detectives were retrieving surveillance video from the CTA that they said would be released to the public, police said. Downtown CTA stops had an increased police presence in the lead-up to New Year’s Eve festivities, and officers were expected to be “highly visible” at the Chicago station in the wake of Saturday’s brazen attack.

Police said the suspects, who are wanted for aggravated battery, are between 15 and 19 years old and all range between 5 feet, 6 inches tall to 6 feet tall.
