The Chicago Blackhawks have already unveiled their 2019 Winter Classic jerseys, but on Saturday they also revealed what the players will wear as they practice before the big game in South Bend.
The Blackhawks, who are hosting the Winter Classic for the second time and will compete in the annual game for the fourth time, are embracing the spirit of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish with the jerseys, as they combine the black and white stripes from their Winter Classic gear with the distinctive speckled gold look of the school’s football helmets:
A red version of the jersey will be worn by players, but will not be sold in stores. The other two jerseys, a black version and a white version, are available now on the team’s website, and will also be available at the team’s “Hockey House” pop-up store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
The Blackhawks will take on the Boston Bruins in the 2019 Winter Classic on Jan. 1 at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend. The game will be televised on NBC 5 Chicago beginning at noon.
