A fight between two men, one of whom Chicago police said is a CTA employee, ended in a fatal shooting Saturday evening.
A fight between two men ended in a fatal shooting Saturday evening, halting Blue Line trains at the UIC-Halsted station, police and transit officials said.
Just after 6 p.m., two men, ages 61 and 24, got into a fight that escalated to an exchange of gunfire between the two, police said.
A witness reported one of the men involved appeared to be a CTA employee.
The men were on a pedestrian walking bridge in the 400 block of South Peoria, police said, when the altercation occurred.
The 61-year-old man was struck in the head by gunfire and transported to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
The 24-year-old man was transported for questioning, police said. The investigation remained ongoing by detectives as of Saturday night.
One witness said he heard shots, then saw a CTA employee in handcuffs.

"I just saw the CTA worker being arrested and put in the car," the witness said.
The pedestrian bridge was closed following the incident, but the station was back to normal Saturday night. No charges have been filed.
