Blue Man Group Sells to Cirque du Soleil

Blue Man Group has entertained millions of people over the years, but now they’re embarking on a new chapter as they join forces with another massive entertainment company.

According to a press release, Blue Man Productions has been purchased by Cirque du Soleil, which is looking to expand its reach beyond the acrobatic shows that they’ve become legendary for.

“We want to broaden our horizons, develop new forms of entertainment, reach out to new audiences and expand our own creative capabilities,” Cirque du Soleil CEO Daniel Lamarre said in a statement. “We are extremely excited to welcome the iconic Blue Man Group to our portfolio of shows.”

The Blue Man Group maintains five shows around the United States, including one at Chicago’s Briar Street Theater, and two touring shows.

The Group’s Chicago show has been in residence at the theater since 1997.

“Now, we find ourselves on the brink of our next chapter, and we have big ideas for the future,” Blue Man Group co-founder Chris Wink said. “It is an honor to join forces with their organization.”
