A death investigation has been launched after the body of a man was discovered in a backyard on city’s Northwest Side Friday morning.
Just before 10 a.m., police say a 54-year-old man was found unresponsive by a resident in the 2800 Block of West Shakespeare Avenue.
The body was spotted in the rear of the residence near the intersection of West Shakespeare and North California Avenues, according to police.
Emergency responders pronounced the man dead on arrival to the scene, which was just steps away from the Chicago Police Department’s 14th District Station.
Police say the ongoing investigation into the death is non-criminal.
The identity of the man has not been released.
