Body Pulled From Lake Michigan ID'd as Chicago Student Who Went Missing After Taking Morning Jog

Jessica Suarez, 21, left her home on the 6000 block of North Talman to go for a jog at the beach around 6 a.m. on Feb. 25 and hadn’t been seen since.

Police are searching for a college student who went missing after a morning jog two weeks ago. NBC 5’s Michelle Relerford reports.

A body pulled from Lake Michigan over the weekend has been identified as a Chicago student who went missing after taking a morning jog earlier this year.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office said the body, which was found Saturday morning about a half-mile from the end of Navy Pier, was identified as Jessica Suarez.

Suarez, 21, went missing in February after leaving her home in West Rogers Park to go for a jog at the beach.

Suarez was studying physical therapy at Harold Washington College. She is also a 2013 graduate of Lane Tech High School.

Police had earlier found the young woman's light blue 2000 Honda Civic at Foster Beach with her purse still inside.

Her family said detectives showed them video from a surveillance camera at Montrose Harbor where Suarez was recorded jogging before she disappeared from view.

“Sometimes I do think the worst, I think they're going to call me and say they found a body,” her sister Adelina Suarez said shortly after her disappearance. “I love her more than anything in the world.”
