Two days after shots from a pellet gun were fired into a Morton Grove mosque, and as the Islamic month of Ramadan comes to a close, an Islamic school has reported it was the target of an acid bomb.
"This is not an isolated incident," said Ahlam Jbara, spokesman for the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago in a statement. "A few days ago another CIOGC member institution, the Muslim Education Center was also attacked."
Worshipers at the College Preparatory School of America heard a loud bang Sunday night during evening Ramadan prayers. They went outside to find an empty 7-Up bottle that had been thrown at the window of the school.
It was "filled with acid and other unspecified materials," said the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
CAIR has called on the FBI to investigate the incident as a hate crime. They are also calling on authorities to increase security during the final days of Ramadan, which ends Aug 19.
The FBI is also investigating Friday's incident, in which BB shots hit the outside of a mosque, as a hate crime.
David Conrad, 51, of Morton Grove was charged in connection with the shooting. He is being held on a $45,000 bond.

No injuries were reported in the incident, but a report was filed with police.
A Lombard Police spokesperson was not immediately available for comment Monday, and nobody answered the phone at the school.
