Authorities said Tuesday evening that a 23-year-old woman was being questioned about a crash that killed an 8-year-old boy on his bicycle a day earlier.
Carter Vo was on his bike near St. Louis Avenue and Main Street in Skokie at about 4:30 p.m. Monday when two cars collided. One car spun out and hit Vo, who was on the northeast corner of the intersection.
"He was a very sweet kid, with a kind heart," Nhu Vo said of his only son as he tried to come to grips with what happened.
At a makeshift memorial, Vo recalled how just last week his only son was asking him about what Heaven was like.
"He asked me, how do I know? But I told him we shouldn't talk about nonsense like that," the father said. "Maybe he knew something I didn't."
Carter Vo was a second-grader at Madison Elementary School in the northern suburb. He had dreams of becoming an engineer or a pilot, his father said.
"He would ask me what I wanted him to be [when he grew up]. I would tell him, 'You should be what you want to be, and whatever makes you happy,'" said Vo.
Services are pending.
