Buckingham Fountain Reopens for Spring

The fountain runs from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily

The jets of the famed Buckingham Fountain have been turned on.

Grant Park’s iconic fountain will offer up its soaring geysers and light show Saturday, marking the start of its 87th season.

The fountain, one of the largest in the world, runs from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Every hour on the hour for 20 minutes, the fountain shows off a major water display, which is also accompanied by lights and music beginning at dusk.

The final display of the evening begins at 10:35 p.m.

Dedicated on August 26, 1927, the Clarence F. Buckingham Memorial Fountain was built at a cost of $750,000 and has since become a favorite backdrop for tourist snap shots, wedding photographers and filmmakers.
