The closing of Carson’s will put over 1800 people in the Chicagoland area out of work, a state report says. NBC 5’s Lauren Petty has reaction from customers at the stores.
With the chain closing stores due to bankruptcy, hundreds of Carson’s employees across the city and suburbs will be out of work in a matter of weeks.
According to a report issued by the state, more than 1,800 workers at 10 Chicago-area stores will lose their jobs beginning next month.
The company’s location at Orland Square will lay-off a total of 311 workers, making it the hardest hit location in the area according to the state.
“It is very hard taking advantage of the deals because you know now that all the workers lose their jobs,” shopper Jill Patrianakos said. “Now I feel even worse because I’m spending money in a company that can’t even support their own workers. It’s hard.”
